Fishing
Regardless of age or fitness, anyone can enjoy fishing. Get ready to unplug from your screens and responsibility and let your eyes rest on the sparkling sea. Enjoy the open waters and the sounds of nature by spending the day sport fishing.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is considered to be among the three best destinations for sport fishing in Mexico (both in deep sea and small coastal fishing).
The fishing opportunities are endless here, with both inshore and offshore fishing. Trophy roosterfish, snapper, grouper, Spanish mackerel and yellowtails jacks can be found inshore all year long. Offshore you can find sailfish, blue and black marlin, yellowfin and wahoo.
For this activity you can choose to fish from anything from a panga to a luxury yacht. This destination has become known for its tournaments, such as the International Sailfish Fishing Tournament, where around 300 boats compete for three days, during the first weekend of May.
Additionally, there are other catch and release tournaments in November, joined by smaller ones, such as the fly all-release roosterfish at the end of the year.
