Visit to
Barra de Potosí

15 minutes from the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo airport is a native fishing community of 600 inhabitants, Barra de Potosí. During the rainy season, the lagoon and ocean meet, connecting the two bodies of water.

This place is home to more than 270 species of migratory and native birds and is recognized as being one of the areas of greatest biodiversity in the country.

From the shore you can see the large rock formations in the middle of the Pacific. These are the Morros de Potosí, a must-see during a clear day. You can book a tour where you can take a lancha, or small boat, to observe its caves and crystal-clear waters. If you visit during the season from November to March, the fantastic four will be waiting for you in the warm waters: turtles, manta rays, dolphins, and humpback whales.
