Zihuatanejo
Playa Blanca
It is one of the most extensive of the coasts of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Located just around the paradisiacal Barra de Potosí, where the lagoon meets the sea, this beach is a place of exuberant nature and is a must see. Get away from it all, even if it is just for the day, and soak in the natural environment of this white sand beach. There is an enormous ecotourism scene here, with more than 270 species of native birds, as well as migratory ones. When the lagoon is at its fullest, we highly recommend renting a kayak and exploring the beautiful ecosystem of these mangroves. From here you can also take a boat to visit the Morros de Potosí; a large rock formation in the middle of the sea, and the habitat of marine birds. Interestingly, these robust rocks get their famous white color from the guano of their tenants. Depending on the season you can possibly see the four big ones: stingrays, dolphins, turtles and humpback whales, that come to the warm waters of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo to have their offspring. This beach is only 10 minutes from the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo airport and 25 minutes from the hotel zone.
